30D back from shutter repair
My beloved 30D is finally back from Canon-land where it was having its shutter replaced. Although I had been warned of the bill to expect (see above), I wasn't quite prepared for the laundry list of items that the Canon techs had replaced along with the shutter assembly.
What to make of: "FPC Ass'y MD" or "PCB Ass'y DC/DC", neither of which I had asked to be looked at even if I had known what they were.
A helpful Flickrite did some detective work on this and came up with some educated guesses on what these might be.
FPC Ass'y MD appears to possibly be the button panel in front of the LCD.
PCB Ass'y DC/DC appears to be related to the top LCD display, Maybe the LCD inverter driver board?
Although I was a bit annoyed that they hadn't replaced the LCD protector or cleaned the camera as I had requested, it is nice to think that they do find other things wrong ... that is, if they were actually wrong to begin with. The CF slot replacement I was also unprepared for since it seemed to be working fine. Perhaps these are just things that other users had found that Canon is fixing with every 30D that comes across their desk.
It's nice to have my baby back, in any case.
