Olympic instant portraits
As I wrote yesterday, I took a long lunch hour to hang out amid the chaos of Granville St. Those of you who already live in busy cities can be forgiven for yawning but Vancouver never gets this busy -- perhaps during the hockey playoffs. For about three blocks of Granville it is pretty gonzo. I hadn't had time to wander down Robson yet, I'll try that later if I have time.
In a sea of cameras I don't know if I really stood out but I didn't have any problems getting people to stop so I could take their portrait. They were even patient enough so that I could properly meter the exposure with my hand-held Sekonic L-358. Shooting the Polaroid 600SE did get me a handful of comments from other shooters. One tiny Italian lady wanted to know why I wasn't shooting Hasselblad but was reassured when I told her that Mamiya made the 600SE.
I'll be shooting more as long as the Olympics are on. It's a great party so far.
These were all shot using Fuji FP 100-C. As I wrote in my previous post, I've gotten beyond the figuring out the exposure timing business. I just stick them in my bag and wait until later to 'develop' them.
